Google decided to be “Bing” like and add the capability to add backgrounds to their highly loved simple white background last night. As soon as I heard about this I checked it out and thought immediately why are they trying to be like Bing? Then I thought thank god for Mozilla’s Google search in the toolbar. Then I thought screw this I’m going to use their “Editor’s picks” and choose their “white background” option which still sucked and made me feel like I was at a P Diddy White Party. And before I could even have another thought they removed it.
I have to say I thought it was a dumb decision at first but I’m really impressed how quickly they acted on “remove Google background” being one of the hottest searches on Google Trends and put the hit out on it
Last thought I have is Google stay Google, Bing stay bada Bing and companies be you stop trying to be like the competition. Whatever they do, do the opposite and better.
